Personal Support Worker-Various Hospital Units in Toronto, ON

Helping Hands Nursing Services Inc. is looking for highly professional, experienced Personal Support Workers qualified to provide direct care to patients. Duties and Responsibilities: - Assists patients with hygiene including: dressing/undressing and grooming, perineal care, oral hygiene, bathing, showering, washing hair, etc. - Assists patients with toileting activities including supplying and emptying bedpans, assisting patients to the toilet, etc. - Assists with ambulation of patients, using correct techniques for lifting, turning and positioning; transports ambulatory and non-ambulatory (wheelchair-bound, stretcher) patients. - Assists with the mobilization of patients and the utilization of appropriate assistive devices i.e., canes, crutches, etc., as required. - Develops supportive relationship with patients, encouraging independence and participation in the decision-making process. - Assists with activities of daily living. - Engages with patients in recreational and leisure activities. - Maintains awareness of patient nutritional status and dietary restrictions. - Records the volume of food/fluid intake/output, in an accurate and timely manner. - Observes behaviour of patient, family and other types of interaction patients may have. - Maintains patient room including; collecting and replacing soiled lines, making patient beds, demonstrating correct procedures for unoccupied and occupied bed making, etc. - Adheres to Body Substance Precaution practices. - Maintains knowledge of and efficient utilization of Prevention and Management of Aggressive Behaviours practices; implements simple pre-determined measures to minimize aggressive behaviour and other problematic patient behaviour - Transports patients for tests and other activities throughout the hospital. - Escorts patients to other institutions as requested by regulated worker. Skills & Qualifications: PSW certificate from an Ontario college program Current BCLS-HCP certificate Current N95 Mask Fit Test Clinical experience in a General Medicine setting Clinical experience relevant to the position Computer skills required Ability to work independently Must be confident and adaptable to working in a variety of clinical settings and facilities Excellent communication skills
